Red Star Training
Red Star Training will complement the knowledge gained during Green Star Training.
The Red Star course still has a great emphasis on drill, but it also adds on to the other aspects of the Star Training
Program and introduces the cadets to the principles of leadership. The aspects of the Red Star Course include:
PO 401 Drill - a cadet will learn how to properly execute drill movements
as a member of a squad;
PO 402 Fundamental Training - a cadet will learn about the structure of the cadet corps, the awards given by the Royal Canadian Army Cadet League and others, the history of the
Royal Canadian Army Cadets (RCAC), and the general duties and responsibilities of an NCO;
PO 403 Bushcraft - a cadet will learn how various aspects of living in the field such as cooking and lighting fires;
PO 405 Map and Compass - a cadet will learn the skills that will better
qualify them to navigate across the different types of terrain;
PO 406 Marksmanship - a cadet will review the theory behind the principles
of marksmanship;
PO 410 Public Speaking - a cadet will learn how to properly write and present a
five minute speech;
PO 411 Leadership - a cadet will learn the qualities of a good leader, the
principles of leadership, and define morale and esprit de corps;
PO 412 Citizenship - a cadet will learn about Canadian history and the
roles community service clubs; and
PO 413 Physical Fitness - a cadet will learn about preparing and
maintaining a personal fitness program.
