Gold Star
Gold Star Training complements the knowledge gained during Green, Red and Silver Star Training. Gold Star Training is the most advanced training that a cadet can
receive at the home corps level. The aspects of the Gold Star Course include:
PO 401 Drill - a cadet will learn how to properly execute flag drill, the
march past and the advance in review order, so that they will be able to
organize a ceremonial parade such as the Annual Ceremonial Review;
PO 402 Fundamental Training - a cadet will learn about the organization of the cadet corps and other administrative tasks;
PO 405 Map and Compass - a cadet will learn the more advanced aspects of map and compass
that relate to navigating across country wit the aid of a map an compass;
PO 406 Range Duties - a cadet will learn the duties and responsibilities of range
personnel so that they can function as an assistant to the Range Safety Officer
(RSO);
PO 409 Instructional Techniques - a cadet will learn how to make the importance of a lecture known and how to deal with
questions, essentially putting together the skills they learned in the Silver
Star program by teaching one period of class;
PO 411 Leadership - a cadet will learn the expectations of a follower, proper discipline and how to be a proper role model;
PO 412 Citizenship - a cadet will learn how to plan a community/citizenship activity;
and
PO 413 Physical Fitness - a cadet will learn how to organize tabloid
sports.
NSCE
NSCE training is the final stage of the cadet academic program. This level is a study of all previous star levels.
The NSCE is a cumulative exam based on the knowledge and skills contained in the four star levels of the mandatory training program.
The aims of the NSCE are to:
a. certify that senior cadets have attained a level of proficiency in knowledge and skills to instruct and supervise junior
cadets at the Local Headquarters (LHQ) and at Cadet Summer Training Centres (CSTCs);
b. serve as one of the prerequisites for:
(1) Master Cadet appointment;
(2) advanced summer training;
(3) selection as a CSTC staff cadet;
(4) selection for national and internationalexchanges; and
c. provide data useful in the evaluation of the Star Program.
