Outward Bound Scotland consists of a week-long precourse at Canaught NACSTC, three and a half weeks of training with Scottish cadets and one week of touring. To be accepted for an exchange, cadets must do outandingly well at NSCE. Cadets on the exchange were introduced to the British summer training, which consisted of adventure training (abseiling, watermanship, survival training, orienteering, and mountian biking), field craft (section tactics, ambushes and personal camoflage), and fundemental training (drill, map and compas). Members of the exchange participated in all competitions: march and shoots, sports, and drill competitions.
